![]() It is quite ironic that Crytek made Far Cry, the series Ubisoft later continued and changed from a linear openlevel shooter into a collectathon openworld shooter with light roleplaying elements, and the same team behind the original Far Cry riffed on the Ubi Cry through the different franchise. It's the infamous Homefront: The Revolution. It's like you have become a foie gras duck: you are locked in the chair, a 15-inch tube from the monitor inserted down my throat, and force-fed with dopamine.įar Cry 6 also reminded me of another openworld shooter with the same concept of guerilla warfare executed in the same formula-and it was created by the original creators of Far Cry. I played it pretty much on autopilot and without much thinking about it. Maybe because I didn't play 4 and 5, but Far Cry 6 does have more improvements than I thought that make it better than Far Cry 3 but not to the point where it is a game-changer. I haven't seen anyone actually praising the game, and even the highest reception was basically "It's more Far Cry".Īfter playing it for just over ten hours, it's yes and no. It seemed to be FC6 was particularly a reviled entry in the series. The trailers looked like it was Far Cry 3 the Cuban backdrop, and I have played enough openworld shooters to make me realize Far Cry 3 wasn't all that great in retrospect. I went in Far Cry 6 with low expectations. I also turned the difficulty up to the "Guerilla". If you have a plan to play it, trust me, turning those clutters off makes the game way more enjoyable. I turn off many HUD options, such as world icons (which are objective markers) and the minimap. I had to play the lowest graphical setting because my PC barely met the minimum spec requirement. After hearing Far Cry 6 was free for a weekend, I installed it and played Far Cry 6 for about ten hours. ![]()
